This year is Stargate Atlantis star Joe Flanigan’s first year at Dragon*Con.  I sat down with Joe to get his thoughts on his co-stars and the cancellation of Stargate Atlantis, as well as his views on a variety of matters.

Actor Paul McGillion is known to many sci-fi fans as Doctor Carson Beckett from Stargate Atlantis.  McGillion, a perennial fan favorite and a regular—in odd-numbered years—attendee of Dragon*Con, took a few minutes to talk to the Daily Dragon.

Daily Dragon (DD):  What was the biggest surprise in being involved with Stargate Atlantis?

Paul McGillion (PM):  The biggest surprise in being involved with Atlantis was I guess initially, for me, I was signed on as a recurring character in season one and then …

Sherrilyn Kenyon had her first individual panel on Saturday at 2:30PM.  In addition to the bevy of questions asked about her wildly popular Dark-Hunter series, fans got the opportunity to ask about a variety of topics such as her Lords of Avalon series and her forthcoming Chronicles of Nick series, as well as her often-mentioned love of manga.

On the subject of her upcoming Chronicles of Nick, Kenyon expounded on how this series will be a young adult-friendly retelling of the …

In honor of the 10th anniversary of Farscape, the American SciFi Television track welcomed Lani John Tupu, Virginia Hey, Claudia Black, and Ben Browder to the stage in the Centennial Ballroom on Saturday.  Ben Browder opened the panel by warning the audience that the panel was being broadcast on DCTV and to watch what was asked and, he remarked, what they were wearing as he didn’t know duct tape was a fashion.  Claudia Black playfully admonished him that, at Dragon*Con, …

On Friday afternoon the Stargate Multiverse track was slated to open their 2009 schedule at 11:30AM in the Marriott Atrium ballroom with a guest “super gate” panel consisting of Paul McGillion and Joe Flanigan from Stargate Atlantis.  However, due to unforeseen consequences, it was left to McGillion to handle the panel by himself.  He started things off by apologizing for his co-star’s absence—in his best Joe Flanigan voice impression.  It was evident from his enthusiasm and energy level that McGillion …

Robert Englund has had a long and illustrious career, but he’s best known for his roles in V as Willy, one of the Visitors who was sympathetic to the human resistance fighters, but more so as the feared Freddy Kruger in the phenomenal Nightmare on Elm Street series as the stalker of sleeping teenagers, killing them in their dreams. Robert agreed to answer a few questions for the Daily Dragon at his Walk of Fame table.

On June 29th of this year, Don S. Davis, a noted science fiction actor known for his portrayal of Dana Scully’s father in The X-Files as well as Major General George Hammond in Stargate SG-1, passed away suddenly from a heart attack. Mr. Davis had planned to be a guest at Dragon*Con this year, also having been a guest of Dragon*Con 2006. The Stargate: Offworld track scheduled a time for fans to grieve and mourn the passing of this wonderful man.

David Nykl, known to science fiction fans as Radek Zelenka, the foil to David Hewlett’s Rodney McKay on Stargate Atlantis, was gracious enough to sit down with us on the next to last day of Dragon*Con 2008.

Daily Dragon (DD): We know you speak fluent Czech, so do the writers tell you what they want you to say, or do you wing it?

David Nykl (DN): A little of both but mostly I wing it. The writers often write something like …
