Trek Trak Director Tap Dances for Shatner and Nimoy

Original Star Trek stars William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy were fully engaged in good-natured bantering Friday morning when “boos” greeted Trek Trak Director Eric L. Watts. Watts, who had introduced the stars, carried a ten-minute warning sign, signaling the imminent end of the program to the capacity crowd. Shatner suggested that Watts tap-dance or imitate a sandwich board, reminiscing about the beautiful girls who carried “Round  3” signs for boxing matches. Watts returned with the sign held against his torso, imitating the bouncing gait of a sandwich board advertiser.

At the five-minute warning, laughter replaced boos as Watts tap-danced across the front of the room, flashing the warning sign in place of a cane and top hat. Shatner commented on the grooming and trimming of the Director’s abundant facial hair. “What does that say about that guy?”

Watts returned to the front with a large baby-blue brush, running the oversize grooming tool over his beard.  A few moments later, he joined the stars onstage, stroking his beard thoughtfully.

“We’ve opened a Pandora’s box,” Shatner quipped. Nimoy agreed, adding, “We’ve created a monster.”

Watts will reprise his dazzling performance as Master of Ceremonies at the Miss Klingon Empire Pageant, Sun 4PM, Grand Ballroom A-F (S)
