In early 2012, the City of Atlanta broke ground on an east-west streetcar line that is slated to run from Centennial Olympic Park along Edgewood and Auburn avenues to the King Center with a stop at MARTA’s Peachtree Center Station.
Ongoing construction will create periodic road closures and detours during Dragon Con weekend.
According to the Central Atlanta Progress and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District website, which lists current information and updates regarding construction impact zones, the below areas will be impacted over the Labor Day weekend. Please plan accordingly!
- Effective through August 31, 2013: Lane and Sidewalk Closure on Auburn between Peachtree and Fort
- Effective through September 25, 2013: Road Closure on Park Place
- Effective through August 31, 2013: Lane and Sidewalk Closure on Auburn between Peachtree and Fort
- Effective through September 29, 2013: Full Street and Sidewalk Closure on Luckie Street between Centennial Olympic Park Blvd. and Spring Street
- Effective through September 15, 2013: Lane Closure on Luckie Street
- Effective July 19, 2013: Guideway Construction – Lane and Sidewalk Closure – Fort Street between Edgewood and Auburn and Auburn between Fort and Bell
- Effective July 17, 2013: Guideway Construction – Lane and Sidewalk Closure – Jackson between Edgewood and Auburn
- Effective July 18, 2013: Guideway Construction – Lane and Sidewalk Closure – Fort to Auburn and Auburn between Fort and Bell
- Effective June 3, 2013: Installation of the foundations for the Overhead Catenary System (OCS) on Edgewood and Auburn between Jackson and Fort Streets is underway
- Effective July 16, 2013: Guideway Construction – Lane and Sidewalk Closure – Auburn between Bell and Piedmont
- Effective July 31, 2013: Guideway Construction – Lane and Sidewalk Closure – Auburn between Piedmont Avenue and Peachtree Center Avenue
- Effective August 1, 2013: Guideway and Overhead Catenary System Lane and Sidewalk Closure – Auburn Avenue between Peachtree Center Avenue and Park Place
- Effective August 1, 2013: Guideway and Overhead Catenary System Lane and Sidewalk Closure – Auburn Avenue between Peachtree Center and Peachtree Street
- Effective August 5, 2013: Overhead Catenary System – Lane and Sidewalk – Park Place to Edgewood to Hurt Plaza
- Effective August 5, 2013: Overhead Catenary System – Lane and Sidewalk Closure – Carnegie to Andrew Young International to Centennial Olympic Park
- Effective August 1, 2013: Guideway and Overhead Catenary System – Lane and Sidewalk Closure – Centennial Olympic Park to Luckie Street and Luckie Street to Peachtree Street
- Effective June 24, 2013: Guideway Construction- Lane and Sidewalk Ellis Street between Peachtree Street and Carnegie Way and Carnegie Way from Ellis Street to Spring Street.
- Effective July 23, 2013: Guideway Construction – Lane and Sidewalk Closure – Carnegie Way to Spring/Spring to Andrew Young International/ and Andrew Young to Centennial Olympic Park
