Propaganda abounds about this innocent hero, claims the Deep. Perhaps the strongest, if you believe his words over the “fake news” and their lies. Either way, he was kind enough to pause his diligent hero work long enough to have a brief conversation with me in the Marriott lobby Friday at around 11:30AM.
Daily Dragon (DD): May I have your name and who you are cosplaying?
Adam (A): I’m Adam and I am cosplaying The Deep from The Boys.
DD: What is one word for how you’re feeling at this moment?
A: Excited. Happy. Those are two words, but you know what I mean.
DD: How many hours did you put into this cosplay?

A: This was pretty much just a buy job. I did research and found a suit that would fit my body type, I found this octopus. I did sew a pocket into the octopus to store things. This costume has no pockets, and I also keep my phone in my boots. You gotta be careful where you hide things in bodysuits.
DD: Accuracy vs comfort in cosplay?
A: If I can, I try for both. You gotta last all day, so comfort is definitely key. But you also want to look good.
DD: What is the single greatest piece of advice you can give to new cosplayers?
A: Don’t compare yourself to others. Just do what makes you happy.
Stop by and say hi to The Deep and his special mollusk friend, if you see them roaming the halls. Just try not to interrupt any hero work—of which he is always diligently pursuing. Most certainly.
