NEED SCI? Call Dr. Jessica Cail

Multitalented Dr. Jessica Cail amazed writers and workshop alumni at the “Writer’s 2 Day Intensive Workshop with Jody Lynn Nye,” in Hyatt Kennesaw on Friday with tales of weird science and her own escapades as a stuntwoman. A professor at Pepperdine University, Malibu. California, Cail holds a Ph.D. in pharmacology and accepts gigs as a stuntwoman in the entertainment industry. Her weapons of choice? Bullwhips, as well as swords and other deadly devices.

She has also joined author Kevin R. Grazier in preparing Hollyweird Science of the Third Kind, continuing the popular series. Keep on the lookout for publication news on her website, jesscail.com.

Perhaps of greatest interest to writers (note the venue of her Dragon Con appearance) is her work as a consultant with the Science & Entertainment Exchange of the National Academy of Sciences. As a specialist in brain behavior and cognition, studying the effects of drugs on the brain, she often advises writers and Hollywood entertainment enterprises about these and related topics.

Any writer can call the Exchange’s help line. Screens, pens, pencils, chisels at the ready?

844-NEED SCI (844-633-3724)

I called on a holiday, but the scientist who answered asked me to leave a call-back number!

Can it be this easy to get great science advice? Try it for yourself.
