The Marriott Atrium Ballroom was again packed for the “Eureka/Warehouse 13 Sharing Resources” panel on Friday afternoon. Colin Ferguson, Chris Gauthier, and Jordan Hinson from Eureka were joined by Eddie McClintock from Warehouse 13. Dr. Kevin Robert Grazier, science advisor for Eureka, was also on the panel.
The question on everyone’s mind was centered on Eureka’s cancellation. As the moderator eloquently said, “Eureka is having an amazing fourth season. What the frak?” Ferguson answered that the decision was not a Syfy decision. They love and want the show, but it was a Comcast decision. Everyone is hopeful for some other organization to pick them up. In the meantime, Eureka will end on its own terms and filming on the series has wrapped. Emotions ran high as each character was wrapped and more than a few tears were shed.
The conversation switched to focus on the current seasons of Eureka and Warehouse 13, with McClintock fielding questions about his favorite artifacts and who the mysterious man in the wheelchair (briefly glimpsed in a recent episode) might be. He also teased the possibility that Ferguson may now be free to both visit the Warehouse as well as direct an episode.
One of the most popular recent Warehouse 13 episodes was a crossover with Eureka, where the Warehouse agents were called to rescue Fargo (played by Neil Grayston) when he was sucked into a video game. McClintock spent nearly the entire episode shirtless. He told a story about how someone on his IMDb page commented that he was pleased to see an actor who wasn’t afraid to show off an average American male body and how the producers of Warehouse 13 asked him to get into shape for this season since his character, Pete Latimer, would be spending a lot more time shirtless. To which McClintock took exception, saying, “Hey, I’ve got ab!”
In the current season of Eureka, most of our favorite small town’s residents have been competing to get on the space expedition to Titan. When asked why Global Dynamics was mounting a mission to Titan instead of Mars, Grazier told a story about getting a phone call from one of the show’s writers while he was in the shower. He was asked what was cooler than Mars, to which Ferguson replied, “Titan.” The writer thanked him and hung up.
Throughout the entire panel, it was obvious how much love and respect the cast members had for each other. The audience reflected the feeling over and over again with their questions and comments about how much they love both shows.
