Travelling Down the Road with Baen

The Hyatt International North on Saturday at 2:30PM was the location of the infamous Baen Travelling Road Show and Prize Patrol. Toni Weisskopf, publisher of Baen Books since 2006, was the Mistress of Ceremony. Baen is known for its innovative e-publishing program, which has expanded under her leadership to include titles from other publishers. She is interested in space science and serves on the Board of Advisors of the Interstellar Research Group.

This fun-filled event showcased several authors. Watching the authors and Weisskopf interact showed the wonderful relationship each had with the publisher. There were jokes and puns, as well as brief synopsis of some of the material available for sale through Baen. There were opportunities to snag a free book (or two). If the author was present, they took the time to autograph each book.

One of the amazing things Baen does is support our military. The respect demonstrated by Baen was humbling, honoring those that have served or are serving. If you have a family member or you yourself are serving overseas, send that information to Baen. Weisskopf will see that a box of books is sent overseas to that location.

This panel was so much fun. Meeting successful authors, listening to Weisskopf talk of upcoming book releases, and opportunities to publish with Baen.
