Steven Sansweet, fan relations guru for Lucasfilm Ltd., presented Star Wars Connections, a preview of Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones. Sansweet said that Star Wars II will start connecting Episode I to the original trilogy. He promised that many fans’ unresolved questions will be answered in Episodes II.
“This movie is going to be … wow.”
Star Wars II will be about relationships. Sansweet broke down some of the relationships, and showed how those associations move between the movies. The relationship of Anakin and Obi-Wan went from Obi-Wan’s duty to Qui-Gon in Episode I, to friendship in Episode II to enmity in Episode IV.
One relationship that will interest many is that of Boba Fett and Jango Fett. Their relationship will lay the foundation for the, until now, mysterious Boba Fett. Sansweet promised many new things will be revealed about one of the most popular, yet enigmatic characters of the series.
Lucasfilm is preparing to release a Star Wars Episode I DVD with six hours of special features, including deleted scenes and a feature length voiceover commentary by George Lucas. The Star Wars I DVD will be released on October 16th. A Willow DVD will be released on November 29. Fans inquired about DVDs of the rest of the saga. Sansweet said no other plans were currently underway, but surmised that Episodes 4, 5, and 6 will be forthcoming after the completion of Episode 3, some six years away.
Starwarscelebration.com will be launching soon. It will detail the celebration of the release in Indianapolis next May.
