Sunday morning at 10AM in the Sheraton, a group of around 50 attendees met to have their fortunes read in at the morning tarot reading. Beginning like the drum circle did, unofficially with a few like-minded people coming together to read and be read, the tarot readings have now been given their own room and time slots.
Friday evening was the first of the tarot card readings and was heavily attended, bordering on chaos, according to volunteer Chris Moore. The event was much more popular than was expected. The second event on Sunday morning was better, with the first 30 or so in line receiving tickets to guarantee they would have their fortunes told. The rest of those in line were allowed to wait in case the line moved quicker than expected.
Eight volunteers were set up around the room, and one by one attendees were called over to a reader. All of the readings lasted around 10 to 15 minutes, none of them in-depth. Most of the fortune-tellers chose a three-card Past, Present, and Future layout with the option for the person being read to choose a specific question or a general reading.
Next year, Moore expects the Tarot Reading to grow. They are looking for more readers, a bigger space, and more time. If you attended the Tarot Readings, please rate your experience on the Dragon Con app to help this offering grow in 2019 and beyond.
