For 2022, Dragon Con’s charity events will benefit Open Hand Atlanta, which prepares, packs, and delivers over 5,500 meals per day in Metro Atlanta and rural Georgia. Two previous fan favorites will be back this year: the charity coloring book and the virtual Dragon Con Hustle 5K. We’ll also have an escape room event!
The Dragon Con Hustle: Jubilee is a virtual 5K, meaning you can complete the distance any way and at any location, including logging miles at Dragon Con! You can even break up the distance and complete it over several days to make it more manageable. You can also post your sweaty selfie on social media afterwards, tagging it with #DragonConHustle so we can see it and give you a virtual high-five. Everyone who registers receives a 3-inch medal with a BritTrack theme, complete with a ribbon featuring the Dragon Con logo and the logo of the charity beneficiary. You’ll also get a custom digital bib to download and print out or use on social media. Registration for the run is $35, and you can register here.
The Dragon Con Charity Coloring Book Vol. 2 will be available at the Charity Events Booth (Marriott Marquis level, open 10AM–7PM Friday and Saturday), as well as at the Coloring for Charity events: Thursday 7PM, Friday 8:30PM, and Sunday 8:30PM, The Learning Center (Hyatt).
The Dragon Con Escape Room, 10AM–2PM Friday in Sheraton Valdosta, is inspired by Victorian mystery tales and the beloved board game of secret passages and murder weapons. Sponsored by the Alternate and Historical Fiction Track, this is an escape room game for 6 to 8 players to solve a whodunit in 25 minutes. Donation to charity is required to play.
The main charity event is, of course, the Charity Auction, Sunday 11AM–3PM in Hyatt Grand Hall C. The Charity Events Booth will be accepting donations in advance. Items sold at past charity auctions have included books, comic books, artwork, signed photos, movie props and replicas, toys, games, costumes, store and restaurant gift cards, weekend getaways at hotels, a meal with an actor or writer, a writing review by an editor, and much more.
