Australian children’s celebrity Bluey Heeler greeted Dragon Con attendees on Saturday at 1PM in Hyatt Roswell. Although this was her third year at the convention, guests’ excitement towards Bluey was unabated. Countless families lined up outside Hyatt Roswell with hopes of seeing the perky puppy.

Bluey is no stranger to attention. The seven-year-old stars in her own titular cartoon produced by Ludo Studio. Initially her stardom was limited to her native Australia, but the TV program now airs around the world. With three seasons, and a movie on the way, the media property shows no signs of slowing down.

Bluey is unavoidable for families of young children. Many discovered Bluey simply by word of mouth or organic discovery. As for the series’ popularity, both parents and children point to the silly antics, relatable situations, and kind-hearted characters. The series’ nuanced humor shows appeal across the board.

Parents in particular tend to relate to Bandit and Chili, Bluey’s parents. Younger siblings show a preference for Bingo, Bluey’s little sister. Each child and parent interviewed had a different favorite episode, with baby competitions and imaginative play being highlighted.

As Bluey prepared for her adoring fans, families occupied themselves quietly outside. Many of the children present were watching Bluey on their own devices, intent on establishing the ideal frame of mind before meeting their canine hero. Peanuts star Snoopy made a surprise appearance in the halls outside. Snoopy did not respond to the Daily Dragon’s request for comment; however, this was expected, as the dog is not known to speak to adult humans.
