Develop a Story in an Hour

In this Q&A panel in the Hyatt Manilla/Singapore room on Friday morning, Gary Hayes was warm and friendly. Right off the bat, he had the audience laughing, warming them up to stimulate their creative processes.

The workshop was structured around the premise that there are two ways to approach developing a story. The first is to start with a cool idea. But what if you don’t have one? The second approach is to start with a character and build around that. With this in mind, and with audience participation, a story was roughly developed.

According to the presenter, there are approximately 300 paying markets available at Duotrope’s Digest . Writers who left this workshop were stimulated with new story ideas.
