The 2012 contest was awesome! A big “thank you” to all of our contestants! We had around 350 people in attendance at the presentation and all of the winners were very well received by the audience. Winners will receive their certificate in the mail. They will be mailed out before the end of September, after the Dragon*Con office has a chance to get back to normal operations.
Congratulations to all the winners!
Undead or alive, English or American, in Buffy or in Angel, Juliet Landau and James Marsters ooze chemistry and charm. On Sunday 2:30PM, the talented duo offered humor, wisdom, and a dash of vampy creepiness to the packed Westin Peachtree Ballroom.
Many panels start with a five-minute “WOO!” from the crowd, but only for Archer is that “WOO!” canonically required. The eponymous spy of this animated TV show has a habit of celebrating with that line, whether he’s playing lacrosse with Malaysian pirates or shooting sharks in the face. This Dragon*Con audience shrieked with equal excitement at the appearance of Archer voice talents Amber Celeste Nash and Lucky Yates, who were thrilled themselves. “This is the best day of my life,” …
The 10th annual Dragon*Con Masquerade was held Sunday night in the Hyatt’s Centennial ballroom and simultaneously broadcast on DC*TV to all five host hotels. Grant Imahara emceed the evening’s festivities, while the judges included professional costumer and costuming track regular Chris Mueller and New York Times bestseller Sherrilyn Kenyon.
The children’s category was up first, where cute kids with little talent are normally being trotted out wearing costumes in which they have little interest. Conversely, older children with a spark of …
Staying at the Hyatt for Dragon*Con has many advantages:
- The special edition room key
- DCTV in the room
- The balconies
- Close proximity to the Consuite
The first three advantages are also available at the Marriott, but I’ve never personally stayed there (though I must admit their lobby is incredibly impressive) so I can’t speak from experience. To me, the most zen-mixed-with-cool perk is my access to the balcony that overlooks the Hyatt lobby.
Every night, after a fun and exhausting day at the con, I slip …
Colin Ferguson, Jamie Paglia, Niall Matter, Tembi Locke, and Debra Farentino took the stage Sunday for the “Eureka: What Would Carter Do?” panel in the Hyatt’s Centennial II-III ballrooms. There was much joking and bantering between the panelists and it was evident to everyone watching that these are people are used to spending large amounts of time around each other and know each other quite well.
Among the various questions asked were the usual ones about the panelists’ favorite episodes and …
The Brit Track hosted a fan-run panel on the ever popular BAFTA and Emmy award winning Top Gear Sunday at 11:30AM in the Macon room of the Sheraton. The panel started off with a discussion of the latest series, or season as we phrase it in the States, which is number 18 for the Top Gear crew. Emphasis is being placed on striking a balance between doing the filming of the more serious, in-depth looks at the vehicles and the …
