I had a chance to chat with members of Emerald Rose as they prepared for their Sunday afternoon concert. Brian Sullivan, guitarist and singer, told me this would be the band’s 5th year performing at Dragon*Con, and they have built up a substantial fan base among con-goers. During that time, many have come to consider the “Celtic-American Folk-Rock” artists the “house band” of Dragon*Con. Brian called Dragon*Con a highlight of the band’s performing year and cited the Bree Party as a peak moment of this year’s appearance. He was also pleased with a video interview for “In My Opinion,” which will be seen in 33 cities in the US.
Clyde Gilbert, bass & vocals, has been attending Dragon*Con since the very first one, 20 years ago. When his responsibilities with the band kept him away from D*C, he decided to get the band involved. Clearly this has worked out well for Emerald Rose and for their many fans. Reflecting on the last years, Clyde said, “Dragon*Con is truly the greatest multimedia convention on the planet. That’s from 20 years’ perspective; I’ve watched it all. I’m the fanboy who made good!”
Emerald Rose will be in Reno, NV in September and from there will head to ConClave 31 in Romulus, MI in October before returning to the studio to work on new material and develop upcoming projects.
