Flying Your Geek Flag

Coming to Dragon Con has so many joys. People hang with other geeks, go to panels to satisfy their fandom passions, and meet up with family they haven’t seen all year. It is such a joyous event. Dragon Con is also known for its many and varied costumes. There are several costume contests throughout the weekend for members to have a chance to win prizes.

There are no major rules for cosplay (other than no nudity or obscene clothing). Some members wear t-shirts to represent their passions. Others cosplay with whatever they can pull from their closets. Then there are those members who go “full Monty.” These costumes are intricate and amazing. These cosplayers spend months creating these works of art. Costuming with so much detail is more than a passion. It’s a sense of pride. It’s fun to fully get into character. It’s wonderful when others stop a cosplayer to ask questions or grab a quick selfie. It’s glorious to wave your geek flag high and strong. It’s also a chance to escape reality for a short period of time and be someone else.

There will be tons of pictures posted from Dragon Con. Go on the app or online to the official site, Facebook, or Twitter to check out who is wearing what. Who knows? It may inspire your costume for next year.
