Parade Doubles from Last Year

The Dragon*Con Parade (Sat 10AM) promises to double in size this year.

Last year, 460 participants marched through Atlanta streets. This year, 850 people of all ages have signed up and more continue to join the ranks. Expect to see characters from Firefly, Lord of the Rings, Cobra, Colonel Marines, Netherworld, Star Trek, and Star Wars. Every Dragon*Con programming track will be represented in this mobile masquerade.

Parade registration is open until Fri 6PM at the Galleria in the Hilton alongside registration and pre-registration. Volunteers are still needed to work the parade registration table.

Participants will line up at 9 a.m. Saturday at Woodruff Park at Park Place and Auburn Avenue, three blocks south of the Hyatt. At 10 a.m., the parade will travel along Peachtree Street and then turn right on Baker Street before disbanding behind the Marriott.

“The best viewing along the route is from the old Macy’s building up to the Westin and the Hyatt,” said Marilyn Teague, one of the parade organizers. An area in front of the Hyatt is reserved during the parade for the handicapped.
